2019 marks the 30th anniversary of Conrad Dublin, the first Conrad globally to reach and celebrate this milestone and for the first time ever, turned their lights to green for the St. Patrick’s Weekend festivities.

To celebrate, they launched a marketing initiative, reaching out to sister Conrad and Waldorf Astoria luxury properties around the world, inviting them to ‘go green’ on St. Patrick’s Day. The idea was inspired by Tourism Ireland’s “Global Greening” initiative; a global campaign that lights up some of the world’s most iconic buildings and landmarks each year to celebrate St. Patrick’s day and generate awareness of Ireland as a major Tourism Destination.

“Our aim was to replicate this ambitious campaign and celebrate with our colleagues around the world, whilst raising awareness of our hotel and brand around the world. We were excited to invite our luxury hotels around the world to join us on St. Patrick’s Day and ‘go green’ by lighting up their hotel exterior or lobby and also officially mark our 30th year around the world,” said General Manager, Martin Mangan, Conrad Dublin.

Conrad fully embraced this global drive and participating hotels included Conrad Algarve, Conrad London St James, Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh The Caledonian, Waldorf Astoria Trianon Palace, Waldorf Astoria Rome Cavalieri, Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam, Conrad Makkah, Conrad Dubai, Waldorf Astoria Palm Dubai, Conrad Cairo , Conrad New York, Waldorf Astoria La Quinta, Conrad Fort Lauderdale, Conrad Bora Bora, Conrad Maldives Rangali Island, Conrad Bali, Conrad Hong Kong, Conrad Seoul, Conrad Tokyo, to name a few, and also added other greening activities such as staff members wearing green ties, created bespoke green cocktails and offered Irish inspired dishes.

Conrad Dublin also ran a series of activities throughout St. Patrick’s weekend for residents and non-residents including complimentary fresh shamrock on St. Patrick’s Day so guests could grab a bunch to pin to their collars; face painting over breakfast so guests could have shamrocks or an Irish flag drawn on their face; and hotel guests enjoyed an informal tour of Dublin city with proud Dubliner, Liam- Conrad Dublin’s Guest Relations Manager, exploring his home turf and sharing its rich history, stories, everything that only a true Dubliner knows about and that you won’t find in any guide! Lemuel’s created a special “Lucky Green” Cocktail- a deliciously decadent tipple with Gunpowder Gin, Guava Syrup, Basil Leaves, Lime Juice and a dash of Grand Marnier and guests had the opportunity to “Pour Your Own Guinness”.
