Powerscourt Hotel Resort & Spa is delighted to unveil its latest culinary experience: The Midnight Garden Afternoon Tea, a darkly indulgent twist on a timeless tradition. Inspired by the garden after nightfall and in celebration of Wednesday Series 2, filmed at Powerscourt Estate, this unique Afternoon Tea offers guests a deliciously gothic escape.

 Just as the seasons transform the landscape, each Powerscourt Afternoon Tea reflects the rhythm of the gardens. This autumn, however, the inspiration goes deeper into the shadows – embracing a darker colour palette, mysterious florals, and bold flavours that echo the gothic elegance of Wednesday.

Guests will begin their journey with an Enchanted Elixir, a bewitching mocktail that sets the tone with a touch of theatrical flair. The savoury selection follows, reimagined with rich autumnal notes before giving way to the centrepiece of the experience: ‘Secrets of the Midnight Garden’, a quartet of decadent desserts each telling its own story.

Highlights include:

  • Twilight Bloom – Violet ganache and blueberry preserve on a delicate purple macaron, echoing the magic of the garden at dusk.
  • Widow’s Rose – Valrhona white chocolate and hibiscus mousse, a striking nod to the gothic rose.
  • Poisoned Orchard – Elderberry and apple compote with blackberry glaze, a forbidden taste of the autumn harvest.
  • Nevermore Noir – An orange blossom chocolate delice striped in purple and black, inspired by the dramatic spirit of Nevermore Academy.

To complement the menu, a collection of themed cocktails and mocktails will be served, each as theatrical as they are indulgent – from the Black Dahlia, smoked at the table, to the shimmering Blood Moon.

“Our Afternoon Teas are always inspired by the seasons in our gardens, but with Midnight Garden we wanted to create something more mysterious, immersive, and playful,” says Eamonn Casey, General Manager.  “With Wednesday Series 2 filmed right here at Powerscourt Estate, it felt natural to weave that gothic, enchanting energy into a culinary experience.”

 The Midnight Garden Afternoon Tea will be available September 7th – October 31st at Powerscourt Hotel Resort & Spa, priced at €60.00 per person. Reservations are essential.
