Head Chef Kevin Watson and General Manager David Morrison of the Killyhevlin Hotel in Enniskillen, the best hotel carvery in 2017, with Jim Reeves and Mark McCarthy, Unilever Food Solutions.
Entries have opened for the annual Great Carvery Competition, supported by Knorr and now in its ninth year. To enter, you must complete an online entry form describing why your carvery is the best. Shortlisted nominees will be informed on July 16th and a mystery diner will visit the establishment. Once the results are tallied, eight provincial winners will be named on September 10th and the overall winners will be revealed on September 21st.
“We would strongly encourage any hotel or pub thinking of entering the competition to do so. Not only can the recognition help to boost business, but it raises standards both back and front of house,” said Kevin Watson of Killyhevlin Lakeside Hotel, Great Carvery Hotel of the Year 2017 winner. “There is nothing like competitive spirit to get your team motivated! Our top tip would be to source as much as possible locally. For us, it means we get the best cuts from our meat supplier and the freshest vegetables from our grocer.”
The Carvery Competition seeks to highlight the best carvery offered throughout Ireland’s hotel and pub industries. Entries close on June 30th and all those who enter have a chance to win an Apple iPad. The overall winner will be awarded 200,000 UFS Chef Reward Points, a Wüsthof seven-piece Silverpoint roll set, a special plaque and framed certificate to promote their win, and a chef jacket.
