Powerscourt Hotel marked its 10 year anniversary by unveiling the results of an extensive refurbishment programme at a lavish party on February 1st, including the addition of an outdoor amphitheatre.

The perfect spot for an outdoor wedding (weather-permitting), the €250,000 amphitheatre was one of the event’s focal points and featuring some truly impressive views of the Sugar Loaf Mountain and Powerscourt Estate’s stunning grounds. It’s future-proofed too – think high-speed 100Mb broadband, a 3 phase power supply, and a state-of-the-art sound system.

Measuring 1600 sq. metres with tiered seating for 240 guests, direct car access and a full catering service, the amphitheatre will host a wide variety of events including weddings, product launches, team building activities, concerts and more. Officially open for bookings, it joins the hotel’s purpose-built 5,959 sq. metre ballroom and 1,111 sq. metres of conference and meeting space operated by the hotel’s dedicated meetings and events team.

“We are delighted to add this new unique space to our hotel offering,” said Ian Wynne, General Manager. “We have built a strong reputation over the years as one of Ireland’s leading hotels and we strive to provide the utmost in service and facilities to all guests. We have welcomed some fantastic high profile events over the last 10 years and we look forward to welcoming many more.”

Alongside the amphitheatre, Powerscourt has invested €500,000 in refurbishing the lobby and Sugar Loaf Lounge, incorporating bespoke furniture designed by Irish manufacturers among a number of updates. Further refurbishment is planned for 2018 as part of a multi-phased development programme – watch this space.
