The five star Glenlo Abbey Hotel & Golf Course in Galway is embarking on a major €5m development programme which will be completed by 2018 It will see an increase in the current bedroom count of 50 to 65 rooms, and involves an extension of the existing golf club house facilities and banqueting facilities in the Corrib Suite, as well as the launch of a new luxury spa with sunken garden, including leisure and pool facilities. The new facilities will include more retail and dining space for golfers and additional changing rooms for members and visitors. The spa facility will include a 15 metre lap pool, thermal suite area, steaming outdoor hot pool, and four spacious single treatment rooms. The new programme will also benefit existing ground floor bedrooms at the hotel, which will now include private external terraces. The existing car park separating the hotel from the Pullman Restaurant will be replaced with an ornate formal garden, which will present guests with breath-taking natural views over the estate from their bedrooms. Following on from the initial refurbishment of the Corrib banqueting suite in 2013 and the €2.5m re-development of the main house, the River Room restaurant and bedrooms of Glenlo Abbey have been recently refurbished in full, while the hotel has also established a main connection to the Galway city sewage system.
