Winedown, a brand new wine bar located on Montague Street in heart of Dublin City, is the latest brainchild of entrepreneur Maeve O’Malley, the woman behind Dublin’s favourite cheesy café, Meltdown.

Winedown offers food and wine with relaxed service in a space filled with contemporary Irish art. Think sharing plates and set menus with interesting wine pairings and exceptional cheese. 
 
Aside from an inevitably excellent cheese plate, Winedown’s menu is small but perfectly formed. Nibbles start at €4 and include Smoked Almonds and Gougeré with Smoked Mackerel Pâte.
 
Small plates are from €6.50 are made up of a some delicious combinations like Hamhock & Gruyeré Croquettes, with Hot Stuff aioli and House Cured Organic Salmon, Remoulade & Brown soda bread.
 
For the Large Plate options, which start at €16.50 you can look forward to Jerusalem Artichoke Cooked Three Ways, (Windeown’s) Fish & Chips and Duck Ragu, Gnocci & Celeriac.
 
Not forgetting something sweet, indulge in a sticky Treacle tart with clotted cream or for something festive, a Mince pie with crème anglaise.
 
Wine is available by the glass from €11 while bottles of red white and sparkling wines are available from €26.
